Right up our alley...
They put these awesome meeting bowls in Times Square where your just supposed to hang and meet people. Which I did for a long while last night. You would have very much loved it. It’s no Keys but it’s pretty rad.

Made me miss ice cream in the vault at the Flea.
grrr the photo won’t load
The Harry Potter premiere was phenomenal.
The line outside Santa Cruz Regal 9 extended around the entire block it was on, and then the next block over, where we sat in line. People camped out in front of the theater for TWO DAYS. We waited starting around 7pm, and in those five hours we saw Hagrid, Rita Skeeter, Fleur Delacour, Hedwig, Dobby, 10 different friend groups cast spells on each other, and many other strange and wonderful things. Oh, and a poster that said, “I’d be sleazy for Ron Weasley”, which will now be my new catchphrase.
This was the first midnight preview I’ve been to since Scott Pilgrim. I can’t believe it. There was no Culkin, but the crowd was incredible. Annee, Alex, Sam and I laughed and cried a bit and cheered on Harry & the crew through the entire thing. This is a picture of the crowd during the Regal 9 preview that’s like a rollercoaster.
4th of Poop
I missed you too much today. This 4th was nothing like last 4th, in fact it was kind the suckiest day and involved no boats or fish or fire crackers or sparklers or body paint or train rides or great neck or you.
I hope you celebrated in Norway. Maybe they have Otterpops there.
xoxo
summer summer summer
oh man you’re missing so many sandy/spieg summer adventures and it feels so weird doing them without you. and things only you would enjoy are happening: maya showed up to acoustic night. figment was last weekend. more is more on gov island made with sunscreen. the carousel in dumbo was knocked down and is moving to the waterfront. the next acoustic night is going to be at the brooklyn bridge park and there just so happens to be a piano there outside just like last summer haha. MAKE MUSIC NEW YORK DAY IS TUESDAY AND IM GOIGN TO BE IN LA whaaaaa???? pat and sandy are not going to france this summer- just emma- can our band be called “emma in france” ? haha shes scared of the horses (its horse camp.) i will be seeing e rossi and annee in LA this week SO EXCITED SO EXCITED SO EXCITED we will miss you collectively. childish gambino has already been a big part of my summer and showed up at a kid cudi show we were at at terminal 5. SPELLING BEE SHABBAT happened last week. our wednesday night friends are playing in the park again on wednesdays. i went to an art crawl last night on the lower east side you would have loved. museum mile was this week and i spent it at the jewish museum which is the coolest place ever and i dont know why i never took you there but you would love it. i got a fan- i think it will suffice but i think if i survive another air conditioner free summer- i deserve a present. im blasting pandora here alone and thinking of you.
theres so much more but seriously it makes me sad to think about. i hope you are having lovely adventures xoxoxoxo
Oh my goodness I have not written in so long, and the only reason is neglect. I haven’t called you since February! You come up in my thoughts (now more than ever) but here I finally am acting on it. The least I can say is I am sorry for waiting this long!
First, all the markers of last summer are coming up in the news and it is pains me to be away: fleet week, free concerts, etc. I love New York more than ever and I want to adventure in Norway before I find myself with you again.
I love Norway so far. This place is so beautiful, there are mountains everywhere and I keep visiting breathtaking places. I love the little differences too, like the types of candies and the way people dress. When I speak to someone on a train or in a cafe, and I can see heads turn at my American accent! I am trying to learn Norwegian, but I have an easy transition because everyone speaks English. I have met a lot of great people, the friends I met at I-House all have great groups of friends, and we’ve already hung out in the big sculpture park, explored the ski museum and viking museum, and frequented great bars (although the prices are CRAZY expensive). Thus I cannot wait to start funandfree Oslo, because I cannot afford to spend much money here!
Tell me more about New York, and can you Skype at all? Otherwise I’ll call you through Skype :)
Oh! AND: we went to off the wagon the other night and it was a disaster of DRAMATIC proportions. You would have been proud.
Dear Spiegs:
Now that the summer has started officially in my mind- several things are going on that you are missing- and I think this tumblr is going to be used a lot more in the coming weeks.
Most importantly, yesterday was STAGES. So I went to Great Neck and was a big nerd by myself. I ate at Ginos and it was “RESTAURANT WEEK” (what???) and all the tables were outside- you would have loved it/thought it was insane (just like i did. because you grew up in Great Neck.)
I then was on a train with the most sheenans boys in the entire world who were 23 and hitting on some drunk 17 year old girls. it was uncomfortable.
I think you are leaving for your adventures today. There’s a trip to Governors Island for a HORSE RACE and a PB Morton Street fair this weekend which you will be very missed during. Oh boy, summer is going to be WEIRD without you.
Also, our Wednesday Night friends who used to play in the park (indian boy + his buddies) are back. Saw them on Wednesday. Fell in love again.
Make sure you fall in love 76 times in your (not) New York summer. I’ll fall in love with NY 152 times just for you :)
